When basil starts to sprout in gardens and sunny window boxes, make this refreshing, bubbly drink.
The perfect blend of herbaceous basil, tangy grapefruit and fragrant bergamot with a splash of sparkling.
It is zesty and absolutely delightful!
Yield: 1 Cocktail
Mis en Place
8-10 Basil Leaves
2 oz Gin
.5 oz Bergamot Sugar Syrup
*I am using the Fabbri brand,
alternatively make your own using pure bergamot juice and suagr 1:1 ratio
2 oz Grapefruit Juice/ Soda
2-3 oz Prosecco/ Cava
Method
Step 1
Pour grapefruit juice or grapefruit soda fill an ice ball tray and add a leaf and freeze overnight.
Step 2
In a cocktail shaker muddle basil leaves with gin.
Add bergamot sugar syrup and ice.
*If you choose not to make the grapefruit ice cube you can use the juice here.
Shake well.
Step 3
Pour over the grapefruit ice cube in coupe glass &
top with a splash of bubbly and serve.
