After my recent travels to Europe I couldn’t help but feel inspired to design a space in our home we had yet to update.
Here you can see what the space looked like before.
Our powder room was in need of a little charm, and the Oak Hill Collection from DXV Canada was just the ticket!
We love how the pieces from this collection come together to create a traditional farmhouse aesthetic, while perfectly balancing the vintage look you know I love with utility, modern functionality, and durability.
I truly wanted to pay tribute to the past all while celebrating the present, and so that lead me to creating a mood board inspired by a colour palette I am always swooning over when I travel.
Grey greens and blush/dusty rose tones always seem to grab my attention and I thought a small bathroom was the perfect place to play.
I started out testing samples by Farrow & Ball, it was my first time working with this paint.
What captivated me was their selection of so many wonderful shades, I can see now why so many designers are drawn to them. I landed on Card Room Green, named after the study-like rooms much favoured in the Victorian period.
Now no space is complete in my opinion without a little pattern, and I had my eye on Pierre Frey’s Fleurs De Mai wallpaper for quite some time. I toyed between different styles of wainscoting but landed on a traditional wall paneling for half the wall and had my wallpaper installer order me the beautifully patterned paper.
I swapped out the light fixture we had for this brass triple shade sconce and decided to change the shades with something more playful by Pooky Lighting, a UK based brand I found.
I kept the previous Roman blinds we had as the colouring worked well but was sure to accent with more shades of sage green to keep things monochromatic and introduced a wood framed mirror to keep things warm.
The perfect finishing touch was the hydrangea print by one of my favourite artists, Jamie Beck.
Home is more than just a place we live. It is a place to inspire us to live the life we dream and aspire to.
Thanks to DXV Canada and their truly timeless designs that elevate the experience of everyday living.
