Nutcracker Nog

Eggnog has to be my favourite holiday indulgence! This is the ultimate after dinner chai infused cocktail...or dessert!

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Mis en Place

Chai Simple Syrup

10 Green Cardamom Pods

1/2 Tsp Black Peppercorns

2 Tbsp Fresh Ginger (Peeled and Chopped)

2 Cinnamon Sticks

1/2 Tsp Whole Cloves

1/2 Tsp Ground Nutmeg

1 Cup Granulated Sugar

1 Cup Water

Other Ingredients

6 Oz Eggnog

2 Oz Bourbon or Whiskey



Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Lightly crush cardamom and black pepper.

Combine with all spices except for the ginger and ground nutmeg on baking sheet.

Toast for 5 minutes or until aromatic.

Step 2

Combine the toasted spices, ginger and nutmeg in a small saucepan with sugar and water.

Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5-10 minutes. The longer, the spicier!

Strain syrup and chill until ready to use.

Step 3

In a cocktail shaker, combine 6 oz of eggnog, 1.5 oz of chai simple syrup and bourbon with ice.

Shake well and strain into glass of your choice.

Garnish with cinnamon and nutmeg.
